My experience with Gestlife on my journey to parenthood in Albania

experiencia de gestación subrogada en Albania, surrogacy experience in Albania

If I were to tell you this over coffee, face to face, I’d say that parenthood changes your life in an instant, but when that life comes through surrogacy, the experience begins long before you can hold your baby in your arms.

Hello, as I write this, I have my little angel by my side, who is almost three months old. She was born in Albania, and if today I can experience the scent of her skin in the mornings and the blessing of watching her sleep, it’s thanks to the path we traveled hand in hand with Gestlife.

I’m not going to lie to you or paint a fantasy picture because this has been a demanding process, full of moments where patience and composure are tested, but when the result is the family you always dreamed of, every past uncertainty transforms into a love story.

When I decided to embark on this life project, I knew I was entering complex territory, full of medical terms and international laws that were completely beyond my understanding.

The desire to be a father was immense, but so was the fear of making a mistake or taking a wrong step. That’s why having a team to support me at every stage, from the rigorous medical steps beforehand to the final days in Albania, made all the difference between feeling helpless and completely confident.

The beginning of a journey towards shared parenthood

It all began some time ago, when initial conversations with the specialists made me grasp the magnitude of the medical preparation. Before there was even any certainty of a pregnancy, Gestlife meticulously coordinated all the preliminary clinical phases, ensuring that the treatments and assisted reproduction procedures met the necessary standards of excellence to safeguard the health of everyone involved.

That first stage generates a strange mix of anxiety and hope, but the transparency of the medical team allowed me to navigate it with the peace of mind of someone who knows they aren’t walking blindly. They explained every test, every step in the lab, and every protocol with infinite patience, transforming the complexity of science into a comprehensible and humane path.

During those initial months, I understood that surrogacy is not simply a regulatory process, but a collective effort where mutual trust is the pillar that sustains the entire structure. The meticulous preparation of the embryos and the selection of the right clinic in Albania were technically flawless processes, but what really gave me the strength to keep going was knowing that, with any call or doubt at midnight, there was always an advisor on the other end of the line ready to listen to me and bring me calm.

An exceptional surrogate and the peace of mind during the months of waiting

As the process progressed and the pregnancy became established, one of my top priorities was knowing how the woman carrying my little angel was doing. The surrogate assigned to me was absolutely reliable from the very beginning until the end of my journey.

It’s difficult to put into words the silent bond of gratitude that develops with someone who decides to help you fulfill your greatest dream, but seeing her commitment and the responsibility with which she attended every medical appointment gave me a peace of mind that was priceless.

Throughout the pregnancy, the reports arrived regularly and with details, allowing me to feel my daughter’s heartbeat despite the geographical distance. Fortunately, nature and excellent medical coordination were on our side, and there were no complications whatsoever, neither during the pregnancy nor at the crucial moment of delivery.

That lack of complications was a direct reflection of rigorous planning, where the surrogate’s health was prioritized above all else, ensuring that she was cared for, assisted, and treated with respect for her human dignity throughout the forty weeks.

Knowing that she was well allowed me to focus on preparing my baby’s room, buying the first clothes, and mentally preparing myself for the radical change that was about to take place in my daily routine.

The days in Albania and the arrival of my daughter

The moment of birth transformed theory into a tangible reality, and it was then that Gestlife’s physical presence became indispensable. When I traveled to Albania for the birth, I found myself in a different country, with a different language, and amidst the understandable vulnerability a new father feels when witnessing the birth of his daughter.

It was during that time in the maternity ward that the support of the entire team became total and deeply moving, providing me with constant assistance regarding the clinical aspects of the birth and caring for my little one during her first days of life with absolute tenderness.

The hospital’s medical team not only demonstrated impeccable professional competence but also accompanied us with immense warmth and compassion in the days following the delivery, teaching me the basics of infant care and ensuring that my daughter’s adjustment was seamless.

Those days in the clinic unfolded in a bubble of happiness and learning, where the exhaustion from sleepless nights was offset by the certainty that everything was going well.

Knowing that the pediatricians and nurses were coordinated with my advisors allowed me to enjoy my daughter’s first glimpses without the added stress of having to resolve logistical issues on my own in a foreign hospital environment.

Returning home and resolving the bureaucracy

However, the birth of a child through international surrogacy is only half the battle, as the other half unfolds in the realm of laws and consular accreditations.

Once we were discharged from the hospital, the bureaucratic process began — a labyrinth of birth certificates, legalizations, and notarized documents necessary to obtain the baby’s passport and ensure our legal and safe return to Italy.

This is the point where many parents feel overwhelmed by the paperwork, but the agency’s lawyers handled each document with meticulous precision before the local authorities and the consulate.

They guided me on which documents to sign, where to go, and how to fill out each form, protecting my daughter’s rights at all times and guaranteeing that her parentage was beyond question. Thanks to this legal expertise, we were able to begin our journey home with all the necessary documentation in order and without unnecessary delays.

Today, we have settled into our family routine with our little one about to turn three months old, I look back and am filled with overwhelming happiness for the outcome of the legal and personal process.

I will always be deeply grateful to Gestlife for everything they have done for me, for their constant support whenever a problem arose, and above all, for the genuine affection they showed me and my family, which transformed a demanding legal process into the most beautiful love story of my life.
